Online Postnatal YTT – 25 hrs

Postnatal Yoga or Mom & Baby Yoga classes are THE most challenging classes to teach! I’ve often said that a postnatal yoga instructor is part teacher, part baby wrangler, part baby whisperer and part goddess! You never know what will happen or what to expect, except for a whole lot of cuteness! These classes are incredibly rewarding as you share in the journey of growth and development with each baby and each mother.

Skill and understanding of baby’s development as well as the healing process for mom’s is the key in teaching postnatal yoga. Understanding the hormonal changes, the recovery for new mothers, the emotional well-being and to offer support and kindness are some of the main focuses on teaching a successful postnatal class. The balance between offering mothers time for themselves and including babies in the yoga classes can be tricky, but with skill and lots of tools in your yoga belt, can be flow with much ease.

With this online postnatal yoga training, you will learn much about the recovering mother physical Self whether they had a vaginal or cesarian birth and how to interact with babies. Understand the anatomical and physiological changes and how to appropriately teach poses with specific modifications while mothers heal and babies grow.

Our Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training program is taught with over 15 hours of instructional recordings and 10 hours of assignments completed through the manual and workbook provided, this comprehensive program aims to ensure quality and knowledgeable instruction. and interactive discussions, and throughout the week completes a number of assignments, interviews, reading and practicum classes. Connecting online through our private meeting centre, each trainee can access and download the recordings and PDF file of the manual and work at their own pace. What are the prerequisites for the online yoga teacher training?

The prerequisites for the online yoga teacher trainings is only that you must be passionate and inspired to create a community of likeminded women who want to help support and guide other mothers safely through the practice of yoga. We only ask that you are dedicated and feel compelled to answer this very sacred call.

Do I need to have previous knowledge and training in yoga before I can take the online prenatal/postnatal yoga teacher training?

Much of the course and the postures are referred to in Sanskrit and English terminology. It’s certainly recommended to have a previous practice of the asana or postures as the course content will flow with more ease and understanding and be able to assimilate the information more quickly.

However, all of the trainings with Mamata Yoga are chalked full of research, information and guidance for even the most novice of teachers to follow along and teach with confidence.

What is the difference between the online prenatal/postnatal training and the 85 hr prenatal training?

Online yoga teacher trainings are not currently recognized by Yoga Alliance because they are not in the physical presence of the teacher.  However, the hours for online yoga trainings can be used towards Yoga Alliance’s ‘Non Contact’ hours vrs ‘Contact’ hours.

The 85 hr Prenatal Yoga Teacher training which takes place with our program facilitators is recognized and accredited with Yoga Alliance. Once you’ve met all the requirements of the 85 hr Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training you’ll receive the designation of RPYT (Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher) with eligible to register with Yoga Alliance.

Will I be eligible and certified to teach Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga once I’ve completed the online yoga teacher training?

Yes, once all the requirements have been met and the 1 hr practicum video recording have been observed, the trainees will receive a certificate to obtain liability insurance as well as employment. As a internationally recognized and certified school, the certificate will state you have completed the online yoga teacher training program under the guidance of Clare Newman with Mamata Yoga.

Is the course content the same for both the online prenatal/postnatal yoga teacher training and the 85 hr prenatal yoga teacher training?

The prenatal yoga teacher training content is the same for the online training and the 85 hour training.  The postnatal training and the conscious couples training are not included in the 85 hr trainings but are eligible for enrolment online.

Can I take the course while I’m pregnant and is it safe?

Yes and Yes!! In fact, this program is more of a personal journey for teachers who are pregnant and what a gift to be able to learn all these amazing tools while experiencing your own journey!!

The course was designed and inspired by the pregnancy of Clare’s second child in 2011, her daughter. She created much of the program while experience the shifting and transformation with a very different birth than her first. The spiritual significance of her second pregnancy is what is shared through all of Mamata Yoga trainings.

Is postnatal yoga teacher training the same as mom & baby yoga?

Yes! The online postnatal yoga teacher training is designed to help guide teachers through a 60 minute yoga class with babies.

The abundance of information in this particular course is outstanding. From learning Baby Yoga, Infant Massage and Acupuncture points to signing sweet yogi lullabies to babies. Learning to modify asana for mothers recovering from delivery in all stages of healing to postures that incorporate babies to facilitate connection.

What is the pace of the course and demands on time?

All of our online trainings are ‘work at your own pace’. We understand completely the demands and importance of family, tending to small children while juggling work and day-to-day demands. The online yoga teacher training courses allow you to work at your own pace by reviewing the videos and moving through the course manual and workbook at your own time (if you’re anything like us, it’s usually at night when all the kids are asleep).

Refund Policy

We do not offer funds for our online courses because we’ve invested a lot of time and energy into creating the course content and videos. Once you’ve had access to these files, as in all information, it holds value. Should you have a health concern and are otherwise unable to complete the program, please contact to discuss the option of a refund!
